competencies that are basic skills and attitudes that are important for all
types of work. These skills will make you highly marketable because they are
needed for a wide variety of jobs and can be transferred from one task, job or
workplace to another. Examples of these skills include your planning, research,
communication, human relations, interpersonal skills as well as critical
thinking and management skills.
In every occupation that you wish to obtain “that
job” transferable competencies are as important as technical expertise and job
specific skills.
You must be flexible in your career planning.
Changing technologies and a global economy are causing
some careers to become obsolete or to vastly change.

types that require related education, training and general capabilities. What
are the transferable career competencies that you have to qualify for jobs and
